迷人的真菌是讓人喜歡雨季的理由，雨季的山林正是這生命活絡的季節，有些真菌需在顯微鏡頭才能看見，有些卻大到鏡頭要退到好遠才能拍下，真菌是植物在自然界生存的基礎。植物則是動物（包括人類）生存的基礎，真菌與植物的腐生、寄生與共生的每種關係都會影響到動植物的生存與生活。但因為這類關係原本就是演化的結果，其重要性幾乎被人類忽視。 真菌在地球的生態系統中腐生、寄生、共生等多重角色。參與生物遺骸或有機物質的分解過程，從而加速大自然中物質的迴圈利用。近年來氣候急速變遷，劇烈天氣使得植物面臨生存逆境的極大挑戰。 就「腐生」關係而言，植物落葉與殘枝若無真菌扮演分解者的角色，植物體的碳、氮及礦物元素將無法迴圈，地球表面會淹沒在日漸累積的植體殘渣中，動植物生態系也有可能會因此瓦解。 就「共生」關係而言，許多真菌與其他類生物間彼此皆有利，如在森林樹木常見的地衣即為真菌與藻類的共生體。透過和植物共生，不但能促進寄主的生長，也能增強寄主對環境逆境的適應力，對生物多樣性的維持及自然資源的應用都有重大意義。種類繽紛繁多的真菌在自然生態中扮演重要的角色，與人類的生活息息相關。然而人類對於真菌的瞭解仍是十分有限。

The fascinating fungi are one of the reasons why people like the rainy season. The mountain forest in rainy season is just where this life is active. Some fungi need to be seen through a microscope lens, while some are so large that the camera must be taken far back to be photographed. Fungi are the basis of survival for plants, and plants are the basis for the survival of animals (including humans). The saprophytic, parasitic and symbiotic relationships between fungi and plants all have an impact on the survival and the lives of animals and plants. But because such relationships are originally the result of evolution, their importance has been almost overlooked by humans. Fungi play an important role in the saprophytic, parasitic, and symbiotic process in the earth's ecosystem. They participate in the decomposition of biological remains or organic matter, thereby accelerating the recycling of materials in nature. In recent years, the climate has changed rapidly, and extreme weather has made plants face great challenges in survival. In terms of the "saprophytic" relationship, if the leaves and branches of the plant are not decomposed by fungi, the carbon, nitrogen and mineral elements of the plant cannot be recycled, and the earth's surface will be buried in the accumulation of plant residues, and the ecosystems may also collapse as a result. In terms of a "symbiotic" relationship, many fungi and other types of organisms are mutually beneficial. For example, the lichen common in forests is a symbiotic body of fungi and algae. Symbiosis with plants can not only promote the growth of the host, but also enhance the host's adaptability to environmental adversity, which is of great significance to the maintenance of biodiversity and the application of natural resources. A variety of fungi play an important role in natural ecology and are closely related to human life. However, human’s understanding of fungi is still very limited.
