蜂蠅是雙翅目食蚜蠅科的一種昆蟲，拉丁名為Eristalomyia tenax，由於體型似蜜蜂往往被專業外的人士誤認。類比蜂的目的就是可以有效地嚇退侵犯者，因為蜜蜂是有毒刺的，而蜂蠅沒有，這就是它使用欺騙手段的高明之處，被譽為自然界11種"偽裝高手"。連動物界最高級的人都經常矇騙，更何況是其它昆蟲。
蜂蠅和蜂的區別有三點：1：雙翅目的與膜翅目的區別，2：觸角：觸角長與短的區別，3：飛行的姿勢及聲音的區別。
最容易快速區分的一點就是觸角，一個較短象兩個小圓肉片，一個長，象兩根細長的棒子。
